Ayad Al-Baldawi

Ayad Al-Baldawi

Pain, Joy, and Myself By ayad Al-Baldawi Translated by: Mahmoud Abbas Masoud --------- (Excerpts) When I surge through memories My dreams drop … Seagulls appear as ravens And steps are rendered motionless O Frustration! How did you get hold of me The eye bathes in its own tears Like an impotent soul Why break your vows O Suffering Why come to travel my path You seek to destroy my joy You toss dirt in my alleys And intensify the noise in my head … I shall remove you And tear your veils, O Suffering Joy is my path And love is my home So how can I fear you The moon charm Will deepen my joy The star glitter will abide with me For I know the hours of the day yet to come
